Westhampton College Scholarships

The Westhampton College alumnae are pleased to announce that applications are being taken during spring 2015 for the following scholarships for Westhampton College students for the 2015-2016 academic year.

To apply, complete the standard online application. If you would like to include a résumé with your application, please forward to to Carolyn Martin at cmartin@richmond.edu.

Applications should be completed by Friday, March 6, 2015, at 5 p.m., EST. The recipient will be notified by the Office of Financial Aid via letter in June 2015.

Your application will be considered for all scholarships for which you qualify; you only need to complete one application. The award for all scholarships may be divided among several recipients, and final determination of the award amount will be made by the Office of Financial Aid.

About the Scholarships

Class of 1940

The Westhampton Class of 1940 Scholarship was established by the members of the Class of 1940 as a special Reunion gift to Westhampton College. This scholarship will be awarded to one or more Westhampton College students, with priority given to those who are the daughters or granddaughters of Westhampton College alumnae.

2015-16 Estimated Scholarship Budget: $28,240 (May be divided among several students)

Class of 1941

The Westhampton Class of 1941 Scholarship was established by the members of the Class of 1941 as a special Reunion gift to Westhampton College. First priority of selection will be given to Westhampton students who are the descendants or relatives of the members of the Class of 1941; second priority will be given to those related to any Westhampton College alumna.

2015-16 Estimated Scholarship Budget: $22,680

Class of 1942

The Westhampton Class of 1942 Scholarship was established in 1992 by members and friends of the class in special recognition of their 50th Reunion.  The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving Westhampton College student. Priority will be given to a daughter or granddaughter of a Westhampton College alumna in the Class of 1942.

2015-16 Estimated Scholarship Budget: $9,760

Class of 1944

The Westhampton Class of 1944 Scholarship was established in 1994 in memory of Miss Isabel Harris, WCR’06, by members of the class on the occasion of their 50th Reunion. Priority shall be given to a female student who is a daughter, granddaughter, or great granddaughter of a Westhampton College alumna in the Class of 1944. Second priority will be given to any relative of a Westhampton College alumna in the Class of 1944, and third priority to any relative of a Westhampton College alumna.

2015-16 Estimated Scholarship Budget: $10,390 (May be divided among several students)

Class of 1950

The Westhampton College Class of 1950 Scholarship was established in 1990 by members of the class in appreciation of the educational opportunities given them during their student days at the University of Richmond. This scholarship shall be awarded to a Westhampton College rising sophomore, junior, or senior with a minimum GPA of 2.5 who displays good citizenship and acts in a manner that enhances the University’s program. Preference will be given to a relative of a member of the Westhampton College Class of 1950, or to a relative of a Westhampton College alumna, in that order.

2015-16 Estimated Scholarship Budget: $15,850

Class of 1952

The Westhampton College Class of 1952 Memorial Scholarship was established in 1982 by the members of the Class of 1952 on the occasion of their 30th Reunion and in special memory of members of the Class of 1952. This scholarship may be awarded to a rising sophomore, junior, or senior student of Westhampton College who is a daughter or granddaughter of a Westhampton College alumna with priority given to a daughter or granddaughter of a member of the Class of 1952. This student will have managed her scholarship, personal life, and interests in such a way that she has made a contribution to Westhampton College.

Carole M. Johnson Scholarship

The Carole M. Johnson Award was established in memory of Carole Johnson, Westhampton College Class of 1961, by alumni, family, and friends. At the time of her death in December 1962, Miss Johnson was a teacher at Hermitage High School in Richmond, Virginia. The Carole Johnson Scholarship recognizes a woman of character and faith who exemplifies unselfish service to others; potential for future contribution to the local, national, and global community; leadership in extracurricular activities; academic achievement; and strength of personality.

2015-16 Estimated Scholarship Budget: $9,040

Jane Stockman Reunion Scholarship

The Jane Stockman Reunion Scholarship was established in 1986 and named in 2000 in honor of Jane Stockman, who retired as Executive Director of Alumni Affairs after 27 years of service to Westhampton College and the University. One-half of the scholarship award is allocated to a deserving Westhampton College student and one-half is awarded to a deserving Richmond College student. Priority is given to a daughter or granddaughter of an alumna.

2015-16 Estimated Scholarship Budget: $13,750

May L. Keller Scholarship

The May L. Keller Scholarship was established in 1976 by the Westhampton College Alumnae Association to commemorate the centennial of Miss Keller’s birth, September 28, 1877. Dr. Keller was Dean of Westhampton College from its beginning in 1914 until her retirement in 1946. Her commitment to academic excellence for women formed the basis of this scholarship. The scholarship may be awarded to a rising senior of Westhampton College who has demonstrated contributions to campus life and whose cumulative grade point average is 3.6 or higher. While the scholarship is intended to recognize academic excellence, a student’s demonstrated financial needs may be taken into consideration.

2015-16 Estimated Scholarship Budget: $40,530

WC Alumnae Richmond Club Scholarship

The WC Alumnae Richmond Club Scholarship was established in 1981 by the Richmond Club of the Westhampton College Alumnae Association. This scholarship offers financial assistance to a Westhampton College student from the Richmond, Virginia area. Priority will be given to a daughter or granddaughter of a Westhampton College alumna.
